Since 1862, Calvary Baptist Church has been a congregation committed to living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the heart of Washington, DC. Calvary has a long history as well as exciting mission, outreach and partnership programs in our community. We’d love your involvement and participation!
Calvary is the founding church of the American Baptist Convention (ABCUSA) and works cooperatively with several national progressive Baptist groups. Locally, Calvary is a member of the District of Columbia Baptist Convention and the Downtown Cluster of Congregations.
We offer an outreach to patients at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and work with our resident partners, the Washington Theater Lab, Kid Power, Inc., Congressional Chorus and American Youth Chorus, Brainfood, and the Friday Morning Music Club, providing space and services to the community.
A variety of learning opportunities is available during the Sunday school hour beginning at 9:45 a.m. In addition, Small Groups meet during the week throughout the metro area. Programs for children and youth of all ages begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue through the worship hour. Our children often participate in worship with us.
Music is an important part of Calvary’s mission and, in addition to music offered during worship, we host a variety of special music events throughout the year. Our choir rehearses on Sunday mornings and our Director of Music, Cheryl Branham, would welcome your participation!
Our weekly worship is held at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays. This community worship brings our diverse communities together for a unique celebration. Spanish translation, Spanish/English Bibles and sound amplification are available during worship.
We’re glad you’re visiting us online, and we hope you’ll join us for worship!
